Honkai: Nexus Anima Aspect Synergy Guide: 21 Aspects
Every Aspect in Honkai: Nexus Anima, ranked by roster depth, with which Anima fill each one and how the synergy bonus scales as you build a team around it.
By Nexus Anima Hub
Every Anima carries an Aspect (a conceptual identity like Light, Dark, Hate, or Memory) on top of its Trait (its combat row). Trait tells you where an Anima fights; Aspect tells you who it fights best alongside. Stack enough Anima that share an Aspect and the whole team gets a synergy bonus, which is the single biggest lever in Honkai: Nexus Anima’s auto-chess formation game. This guide ranks all 21 Aspects by how deep their current roster is, so you know which ones can actually carry a full nine-unit formation.
Note: the game is in closed beta (the Evolution Test), so roster counts and synergy thresholds below reflect what has been revealed so far and can change. Treat exact breakpoints as illustrative, and the roster counts as a snapshot, not a final tally.
The synergy rule in one line
Field multiple Anima that share an Aspect and your team gets a buff that scales with the cluster size. Public beta coverage generally agrees the first bonus lands around three matching Anima, with stronger tiers commonly reported around five and eight. Sources disagree on the exact numbers, so do not plan a formation around hitting precisely eight; plan around committing to one Aspect and adding as many matching Anima as your rows can hold. For the row-placement half of team building (which Trait goes where), see the formation guide.
All 21 Aspects, ranked by roster depth
The table below counts confirmed Anima per Aspect in the current dex. A deep Aspect can fill more rows without breaking its own synergy, so depth is the first thing to check before committing.
| Aspect | Confirmed Anima | Depth tier |
|---|---|---|
| Reality | 8 | Deep |
| Competition | 8 | Deep |
| Light | 7 | Deep |
| Dark | 7 | Deep |
| Satiation | 6 | Solid |
| Strength | 6 | Solid |
| Hate | 5 | Solid |
| Love | 5 | Solid |
| Memory | 5 | Solid |
| Change | 4 | Workable |
| Beauty | 4 | Workable |
| Insatiability | 4 | Workable |
| Joy | 4 | Workable |
| Pride | 3 | Thin |
| Oblivion | 3 | Thin |
| Ugliness | 3 | Thin |
| War | 1 | Thin |
| Peace, Regret, Right, Weakness | 0 | Not yet revealed |
Four Aspects (Peace, Regret, Right, and Weakness) exist as concepts in the game’s lore but have no catchable Anima attached to them yet in this closed beta. They are not bugs or omissions, just Aspects the reveal cadence has not reached. Do not build around them until an Anima actually carries one.
The deep Aspects: Reality, Competition, Light, Dark
These four can staff a full nine-unit formation and stay on-Aspect the entire time, which is why they anchor most of the current beta’s strongest lineups.
- Reality (8): the single deepest pool, though several of its Anima (like Seroplumanth) still have unconfirmed Traits. Inkifoal and Mimoo are its confirmed Gladiators for the mid row today.
- Competition (8): the most row-complete deep Aspect right now, with Hoppelon (Protector) and Furrari or Eggluvs (Striker) up front, Marshalbird (Gladiator) and two Explorers in the mid row, and Squarel (Blaster) or Eggnok (Mastermind) in back.
- Light (7): one representative in almost every Trait, from Apollinis (Protector) up front to Lumehart (Cherubim) healing from the back. See the formation guide’s mono-Light example for a full lineup built on this Aspect.
- Dark (7): the mirror image of Light, with Felinoxie (Protector) and Lumeridon (Biggun) anchoring the front and Waxula (Mastermind) controlling the back.
The solid mid-tier: Satiation, Strength, Hate, Love, Memory
Five to six Anima each, and every one of them already covers front, mid, and back with at least one Trait to spare. These are the safest picks if you want an Aspect team without waiting on future reveals: Satiation runs Puddlipup (Striker) and Nomnom (Protector) up front through Vulberry (Mastermind) in back; Strength has Bladehound as its headline Striker; Memory spans Camcorgi and Cinechel up front to Framamba (Blaster) in back.
The thin Aspects: 4 or fewer confirmed Anima
Change, Beauty, Insatiability, Joy, Pride, Oblivion, Ugliness, and War all sit at four Anima or fewer, with War at just one (Scorscythe, a Gladiator). A thin Aspect is not automatically a bad pick: check the row spread, not just the count. Change, for example, has a Spook, a Mastermind, a Mascot, and a Protector, which is enough to seed a formation while you wait for more reveals to fill in the front row. War, with a single revealed Anima, cannot support a same-Aspect team yet at all; treat it as a unit to slot into another Aspect’s formation, not an Aspect to build around.
How to pick your Aspect
- Start from an Anima you already like or own, then check its Aspect’s row spread using the table above and the Anima dex.
- Prefer a deep Aspect if you have no strong preference. Reality, Competition, Light, and Dark currently offer the most flexibility, since they can fill every row without stretching thin.
- Confirm row coverage before Anima count. A 5-Anima Aspect with a Protector, a damage dealer, and a healer beats an 8-Anima Aspect that is all backline Blasters, because you still need a front row to protect them.
- Sanity-check the lineup in the formation planner before committing pulls or Aspect Gem picks to a specific Aspect.
Common mistakes
- Chasing Anima count over row coverage. A deep Aspect with no front-row option still cannot hold a formation together.
- Splitting pulls across many Aspects “just in case.” Every Anima outside your chosen Aspect dilutes the synergy bonus. Pick one and commit.
- Waiting on a 0-Anima Aspect. Peace, Regret, Right, and Weakness are not live options yet; build around one of the 17 Aspects that already has a roster.
Bottom line
Aspect is the synergy axis, Trait is the row axis, and you need both to build a real team. Reality, Competition, Light, and Dark currently offer the deepest, most flexible rosters, but any Aspect with front-to-back row coverage can carry a formation. Check the Anima dex for the full roster by Aspect, pair this with the formation guide for row placement, and draft your build in the team builder before you commit resources.
