Noctumbra Stars in Planar Transmission Thriller

HoYoverse's new Planar Transmission casts Noctumbra as the lead in FORBIDDEN!, a psychological-thriller film teaser for Honkai: Nexus Anima.

HoYoverse’s official Honkai: Nexus Anima account dropped a new Planar Transmission on June 30, 2026, and this one is a tongue-in-cheek movie trailer. The Dark-aspect Anima Noctumbra takes the leading role in a fictional psychological thriller now “showing in theaters across Iia.”

The “film”

The transmission frames Noctumbra’s reveal as a blockbuster movie listing. The in-universe poster bills it as “FORBIDDEN! An Arcane Rite, A Legendary Anima,” a 100-minute Iia Drama/Horror production “by ICM Finity Pictures Co., Ltd.” It is sitting at #7 in the Top 50 Movies with a 9.3 rating from over a million viewers.

The bit lands in the small print: the poster’s note jokes that “the Noctumbra portrayed by Noctumbra bears [no resemblance]” to the real thing. The gentle creature is simply playing the terrifying on-screen villain.

The reviews are the joke

The second half of the transmission is a mock viewer forum, and it sells the gag better than the poster does. Players-as-moviegoers leave the kind of reviews you’d expect from a horror hit:

The running theme, that Noctumbra looks menacing but is actually a softie, is a classic HoYoverse character tease, doubling as a hint about the Anima’s personality.

What it tells us about Noctumbra

Beyond the comedy, the transmission reaffirms Noctumbra’s identity ahead of the Evolution Test. Noctumbra is a 5★ Dark-aspect Anima with the Gladiator Trait, and the recurring imagery, the blue wolf-like silhouette and the signature flames on its tail, is now firmly part of its visual language.
